A Fort Lauderdale restaurant legend is thriving under new ownership.
For over 45 years, Hot Dog Heaven has been Chicago-style franks with all the trimmings including the restaurant’s signature poppy seed buns and now new owners Joe Barra and Mathew Abdol are keeping the tradition going at new levels.
Barra and Abdol were front of the line when the restaurant went up for sale.
“I’ve been retired and cruising all over, but when this opportunity came up, I called Mat and said, ‘Let’s just do it,'” Barra said, according to CBS News.
“Our marching orders from the beginning were to find a buyer who would continue Hot Dog Heaven’s legacy,” Alan Kaye of Transworld Commercial Real Estate, one of the brokers who facilitated the sale, added.
“We want to make it more accessible to people who are new to the area,” Abdol said.
Hot Dog Heaven continues to be a landmark spot for Fort Lauderdale and seems to be in that spot for many years to come.
